Bruce Zhang interned at Give.Asia during the summer of 2024, where he contributed to our social research work. He demonstrated a strong commitment to understanding and addressing the challenges of Singapore’s aging population. As a high school intern, his energy, enthusiasm, and ability to communicate with humor and authenticity left a lasting impression on me.
Bruce applied his culinary talents to design a senior-friendly cookbook Nostalgic Nibbles and leveraged Give.Asia’s digital platform to launch a fundraising campaign. He successfully raised SGD 4,000 for TOUCH Community Services Singapore’s Meals-on-Wheels program, which provides meal delivery to isolated seniors. This initiative reflected Bruce’s proactive attitude in using digital tools to serve the local community.
The Elder Wisdom Network, which he created following his internship at Give.Asia, is a meaningful social initiative that combines interdisciplinary thinking, compassion, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of Singapore’s senior community. Bruce understands that aging is not just a medical or social issue, but a deeply human one. Through his Don’t Age Podcast Spotify channel, he interviews leading experts in aging and elder care, to help young people better understand and appreciate the concept of active aging.
When he invited me to be a guest for his Podcast, I was truly moved by the depth of his questions and the clarity of his vision. Bruce has a unique ability to make complex insights on aging both accessible and engaging for the younger audience.
As the founder of GIVE.Asia, I have witnessed many youth-led projects, and Bruce’s The Elder Wisdom Network truly stands out. It reflects his thoughtful approach to Singapore’s aging population and showcases youth-driven action. By using Spotify, a platform popular among young people to promote social awareness, he has created a powerful and inspiring effort that bridges generations and fosters lasting social impact.
